Seizures

So now both subdural drains are draining bloody fluid (which is OK).  The right one wasn't draining for the first 4 hours after surgery, but now is draining a TON!  Usually they just let it drain and write down how much it has drained every 2 hours.  But because the right one is draining a ton...they are letting it get up to 25 mL (which might take half of an hour) and then they clamp it for the remainder of the hour.  (So they only want it draining 25 mL per hour).

The left drain was draining after surgery, but has slowed down to practically nothing.

Her shunt (the EVD from her belly that she has had this whole last week) is also not draining.

They will do a CT later this morning.

They think that the right one might have drained the subdural space (bloody fluid) and is now draining the ventricles.  Hopefully the CT will tell them more.

She had one of her really big scary seizures last night.  2-3 minutes of turning blue and not breathing (even with bipap on and oxygen cranked up).  Her oxygen was in the low 30's.  Thankfully they listened to me and didn't press the code blue button and thankfully she came out of it.

Neurosurgery said when you mess with subdural space you can irritate the tissue and cause seizures.

The thing I am most concerned about right now is the right subdural drain draining so much...it might be draining the ventricles that we have been building up this whole last week.  Blah...Grrr...Bleck!
