Ellie just got a blessing. I felt immediate peace as soon as the first Elder put his hands on her head and anointed her. I cannot deny the power of the priesthood and the love Heavenly Father has for each of us. He knows me, he knows Ellie. He loves us. He wants the best for us. He wants us to return to him. We can only do this through our righteous desires AND actions while on this earth.
For those of you unfamiliar with "priesthood" or "blessings"...I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Often referred to as "Mormons".
We believe that God shared his priesthood (power of God on the Earth) with righteous men in Bible times. We also believe that in these days the priesthood was restored (given again) to righteous men on the earth today. Once they receive this higher priesthood you can call them an "Elder".
Men having that priesthood (authority to act in God's name) can lay their hands on someones head with a drop of consecrated oil (oil that has been set apart for this purpose) and give them a blessing (prayer) of peace and healing. These blessings are brought about by the individual's faith and the desires of God.
Does that make sense?
Note: PCMC has changed their policy on asking for LDS Elders over the intercom. They first gather a list of those employees in that department. Then they vocera them. If no-one responds, then they will page overhead. (I didn't know this before hand...) So you have to call the operator, they send the vocera. If no-one responds then you have to call the operator back and ask them to page overhead. The LDS Elders that came to give Ellie a blessing are the ones that have this as a calling and they just happened to be stopping by. But we had waited an hour and a half to two hours. They told me that what you can do is call the operator and ask for the chaplain. The chaplain can get a hold of 2 Elders for you.

Loved your explanation and testimony of the Priesthood Mikael. I second it.
Glad Ellie was able to get a blessing...even if it was delayed.
